It’s been a couple months, but we’re finally back with some huge news!
In what is probably the first major transaction of the 2020-21 NBA offseason, the Oklahoma City Thunder are shipping point guard Dennis Schroder to the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for shooting guard Danny Green and this year’s 28th overall pick.
Schroder, who averaged 19 points per game this year as a member of the Thunder, was a top-three Sixth Man of the Year candidate before the award ultimately went to the LA Clippers’ Lou Williams. While he was a sixth man (player off the bench) for OKC, he is most likely going to be in the Lakers’ starting rotation along with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
This is an amazing trade for the Lakers. They get a stellar point guard and actually save money. Green’s contract plus the draft pick cost upwards of $16 million, whereas Schroder’s contract is at $15.5 million.
More information will be posted as news breaks regarding the trade.
